A rather small, remote city of almost 400,000 inhabitants in northwest Mexico, “Mochis” is one of Mexico’s principal agricultural centers. Sugar cane, Mochis’ principal crop, has enjoyed continued success for years. Additionally, its fields are rich with various types of vegetation that attract flocks of birds, and consequently bird hunters from the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Los Mochis’ tourist attractions are, however, not limited to flora and fauna. The City of Los Mochis is the western end of the remarkable rail trip through the Barranca del Cobre (Copper Canyon), Mexico’s most breathtaking canyon. Topolobampo (25 kms; 15.5 miles west), a well-known beach town, is the ferry terminal to the Baja California Sur cities of La Paz and Cabo San Lucas.
